Transition and Progression – What Next?
Progression planning is undertaken throughout the students’ college journey but a particular focus is given in Year 13 and Year 14. The Careers and Employability team and classroom-based staff will work collaboratively to review students' goals and aspirations.
Students in Year 13 will work on their Vocational Profiles with our expert Job Coaches to establish suitability for our Supported Internship Programme following an expression of interest form completion.
The Careers and Employability team is on hand to support students looking for paid work; they are happy to support with CV generation, job applications, and interview preparation.
Throughout a young person’s time at college, there are opportunities to attend meaningful encounters with other providers; students are encouraged to participate in local careers and job fairs. Students are also given opportunities to engage in workshops and experiences to prepare them for working life. Examples include:
- Year 12s are invited to attend the SEND Forward transition event.
- In year 13/14 students are invited to visit FE providers such as Colchester Institute, ACL, and Suffolk Rural.
- Workshops with Rose Construction.
- Talk The Talk – Talk About the Future Workshop.
In their Year 14 Annual Review, students will have the opportunity to meet with a level 6 qualified careers advisor who provides impartial information, advice, and guidance regarding appropriate options and next steps.
We are currently curating a supportive transitions document. This will be uploaded soon.
